A volume knob for your Sonos soundbar
With a Sonos soundbar, the TV remote turns the volume up and down while you watch TV. But when you play music, the TV remote is down the sofa, switched off or in another room, and you’re back to your phone.

TV and music: two different remotes
Sonos soundbars (Arc, Beam, Ray) connect to the TV over HDMI or optical and learn your TV remote, so for films you need nothing else. The trouble starts with music: the soundbar is often grouped with other speakers or used as the main living-room speaker, and the TV remote doesn’t help there.
When a dial makes sense
- You listen to music in the living room with the TV off.
- You group the soundbar with the kitchen or dining room and want to turn the whole group up or down.
- There are people at home who don’t use the app (kids, grandparents, guests).
knobeast with a soundbar
knobeast controls any Sonos speaker on your network, soundbars included. On the knob you choose whether it controls just the soundbar, the living-room group or several rooms at once. Turn for volume, press to pause, and the screen shows what’s playing.
- Group volume, just like the group slider in the app.
- Configurable maximum volume.
- On the coffee table or on the wall.
knobeast doesn’t replace your TV remote: they work side by side. The TV with its remote, the music with the dial.
